Job Description:
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
This is skilled carpentry work at the journeyman level in the
construction, maintenance, and repair of wooden articles,
equipment, and structures. Work involves responsibility for
performing skilled carpentry tasks in accordance with standard
practices of the trade. Work requires independent judgment across
various degrees of specialization depending on the location of
assignments and includes some supervision over helpers. Oral and
written instructions received are frequently accompanied by
sketches or blueprints, and work is reviewed by a supervisor for
compliance with specifications and standards.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school, and 3 to 5 years' experience in the
carpentry trade or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or any
equivalent combination of training and experience which provides
the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

This is a General Fund, "Tested" position.
This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with
Local 24 / Trades.

The City of New Haven does not sponsor employment visas. All

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a
pre-employment background check, (2) a pre-employment physical
examination, including pre-employment drug screening accordance
with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*, and (3) a 90-day
probationary period. Instructions and information on this

Employment.
Pursuant to the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988, The City
of New Haven has a adopted a Drug Free Workplace Policy. The City
of New Haven requires a pre-employment drug test, which includes
screening for marijuana.
