--- SUMMARY OF THE ROLE Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and assists the Vice President Human Resources in a wide range of HR assignments and projects including exempt and salaried non-exempt recruiting, compliance, employee relations, training, personnel policies and procedures, compensation and benefits, performance management, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and personnel file maintenance. Represents the HR Department on the Management Council. REQUIREMENTS:

  • HR Generalist experience in the above areas.
  • Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) expertise.
  • PC literate including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Outlook.
  • A Bachelor's degree in HR Management or related Behavioral Science.
  • Strong Human Relations skills and ability to interface with all levels of management and non-exempt personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essentials duties include the following: I. Employment-- Recruiting all corporate salaried positions; Includes sourcing for permanent and temporary positions and maintaining relationships with outside recruiting agencies.-- Consultative role with Management in determining staffing needs/levels, assessing current and future bench-strength.-- Maintains integrity of the Job Posting system.-- New Hire Processing and Orientation.-- Personnel Activity Reports including turnover activity, exit interviews, etc.-- Design consultative as well as implementation role for all employee separations including terms, -- Assure I-9 and AAP compliance. II. Employee Relations-- Employee advocacy while also maintaining balanced role in representing management and the company.-- Visible resource/Open-Door model for all corporate departments on ER matters.-- Investigates all employee complaints, concerns, issues. Advises and makes recommendations to management regarding same.-- Leads various ER initiatives including Employee Opinion Survey, including sourcing, organizing/scheduling, communications and formulating action plans, on-going follow-up.-- Partners with management in the application of Progressive and Corrective Disciplinary actions and assures fair and equitable administration.-- Employee communications include company newsletter, notices, policies, benefits, etc.-- Leads company strategy on maintaining union-free status through maintaining a positive employee relations environment and keeping informed on area union organizing activities for all locations.-- Extensive coaching/consultative time with management on Employee-Related matters.-- Oversee company employee functions including Christmas Luncheon, North Pole, Picnic; "On-The-Spot" recognition awards and birthday/anniversary cards program.-- Administration of Tuition Assistance Plan. III. Performance Management-- Research, selection and administration of performance review instruments and review process. Administers FYE and mid-year review process.-- Consultative role in devising individual development plans with management.-- Researching alternative performance management models and making recommendations to management regarding same. V. Policies/Procedures; Compliance-- Policy formation based on executive and other management input and/or regulatory requirements.-- Write-up and communication of all such policies which may include training requirements as well as interface with IT for electronic communications through the intranet/share point.-- Knowledge of applicable employment and/or benefits legislation through periodic attendance at professional association training seminars or other training sources.-- Maintenance of electronic employee handbook as well as hard copy binder on all actions relating to personnel policies.-- Respondent role for outside regulatory agencies includes EEOC, State Commissions on Human Rights & Opportunities, FLSA, OSHA, OFCCP, Department of Labor, etc. includes researching and working with outside legal counsel in responding to complaints. Includes Unemployment Compensation claims and hearings regarding same.-- Compilation of Data for annual AAP plan for each location, and finalization of the plan and goals. VI. Employee Records/HRIS-- Maintenance of employee records; active & inactive-- Maintenance of HRIS system for personnel activity reporting, AAP compliance, employee data-base.-- Maintenance & periodical update of organizational charts company-wide. Other duties may be assigned.
