BASIC FUNCTION: This position is responsible for processing phases of the payrolls in Workday.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree preferred


* 1-3 years of payroll experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications; Excel and Word
* Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
* Workday experience a plus
* Union payroll experience a plus


Maintain and process payroll efficiently and meet deadlines, by collecting information, calculating, and entering data. Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. As well as keep abreast of modifications to current policies and procedures and is aware of new policies and procedures. Perform payroll-related functions including the maintenance of controls and the separation of payroll checks for distribution to the University community. Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential. Support Payroll/Benefits Specialist and management personnel as required. Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, nontaxable wages, etc. Ability to understand and explain taxable/nontaxable payroll items for verification of payments. Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Review and maintain banking processes. Validate integration data to external vendors for tax and benefits compliance. Remit payments to external vendors/departments. Receive and process garnishments and child support notices, as well as communicate with agencies regarding discrepancies. Responsible for the review and processing of weekly non-exempt employee time cards, including:

* Union Collective Bargaining Agreement compliance
* Shift and shift differential reviews
* Contact various department supervisors for any missed times or discrepancies.

Receive calls, visitors, and mail; respond to complaints and requests for information accordingly while maintaining professionalism. Participates in the growth and development of the department. This involves:

* Promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the University community and consistent with the department's mission
* Participating in staff meetings as requested
* Keeping abreast of modifications and/or new policies and procedures
* Serving as a responsible committee representative as requested

Promotes safe and secure working conditions. This involves:

* Promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials
* Notifying supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions

Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required by supervisor and as departmental/University needs indicate. Strong customer service skills (must be easily approachable, friendly, and able to establish rapport and communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders) Ability to use authority with discretion and exercise good judgment.
