Job Description:

SUMMARY:This position is mobile, headquartered in Fall River MA, and serving NSU's Connecticut operations in the Norwalk/Fairfield area, providing operations and maintenance support to various wastewater facilities as directed. The mobile operator is an independent well-organized self-starter able to manage his/her own time to complete assigned site coverage in their given allotted time.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., in order to monitor system condition
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
  • Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility's operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
  • Participate in 24 hour on call rotation
  • Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel
  • Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
  • Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
  • Participate in 24hour on-call rotation within the designated service area.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route
  • Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
  • Confined Space Entry - this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by managementQUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • 3 year of wastewater experience, preferred
    • 40-hour work week: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30 pm (30 minute lunch)
    • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested
    • Overtime as required.
    • On call rotation.
    • Connecticut Class 2 Wastewater Operators License required.
    • Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
      • Valid Driver's License
      • CT Wastewater license required.COMPETENCIES:
