Thank you for your interest in becoming part of the team at Legrand!GENERAL PURPOSEThe Electrical Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the design, development, verification, and test of all aspects of electrical components, PCB assemblies, firmware, products, and complete systemintegration for AC and DC power distribution units. This position is responsible departmentally and cross-functionally for continuously providing mentoring, encouragement, problem-resolution support and fostering a culture to produce practical, innovative, cost-effective, reproducible and industry-leading products within the established deadlines. This leader also performs as senior technical resource of the brand.DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESManages multiple direct and indirect reports in electrical, firmware, and software development rolesAssists with the prioritization, budgeting, resource planning, and scheduling of electrical projectsDevelops product requirements and perform electronic hardware design based upon customer specifications and industry regulations for global applicationsApplies expertise in AC and DC circuits and principalsLeads firmware development, leveraging broad team, division and contract resourcesCreates required engineering documentation to support new product development. This includes schematics, specifications, drawings, bills of materials, FMEA, test plans and reports, and other related documentationDevelops safe, efficient, scalable and cost-effective designsAssures high standard of quality by solid design practices, process improvements, and validation.Builds and tests prototypes and integrated systems as part of development process.Excellent understanding of design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) conceptsDevelop product technical specification and test specification with the development team.Understanding of regulatory requirements and agency testing (FCC, UL, CE, etc.)Participate and/or lead design and standard reviews through the various stages of development.Assist in component evaluation, documentation, review of component drawings, and sustaining.Support customer and field issuesSupport Quality Assurance (QA) and Contract Manufactures.JOB REQUIREMENTSEssential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Hands-on design experience in analog and digital electronics with emphasis on AC/DC circuits, power supplies, microprocessors and related firmwareStrong problem solving and debugging skills with solid understanding of core engineering principles, fundamental circuit design, and analytical techniquesMust have lab bench and system level integration/ debug/ troubleshooting experienceHands-on experience working with various test equipment (oscilloscope, power supply, multimeter, spectrum analyzer, etc.) is requiredMust have experience with schematic capture tools (ORCAD, Altium, PADS, CADENCE) and PCB layout tools (PADS and Altium preferred)Must have experience with and knowledge of scripting languages (C#, .Net, JAVA, HTML, etc.)Experience and knowledge of EMC/EMI, shielding, and grounding principal and designDevelopment of manufacturing requirements of products and application of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Verification (DV), and assembly conceptsMust have knowledge in global safety and regulatory agency test requirements (UL, FCC, CE, IEC)Strong organization and time management skills, close attention to detail, and ability to multitaskAbility to work independently as well as mentor/train/supervise engineers, technicians and internsDemonstrated experience supervising others in a positive and energetic work environmentExcellent skills in project management (including Agile) to organize and delegate required workMust have excellent written and verbal communications skills and experience leveraging Office 365Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential informationWillingness to travel ( Minimum Education and Experience Required:B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or other related engineering degreeMinimum of ten years of hands-on product development, electrical/electronic engineering and test experienceSpecial Job Requirements:Requires frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team membersMust be available for extended, varied work hours based on business needPreferred Qualifications:Two years in supervisory/management role or combination of relevant education and experienceM.S. in Electrical/Electronic EngineeringExperience working in cross-functional environment with multiple disciplines, including: electrical and mechanical design, firmware, software, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers and external service providersDirect FCC, UL, TUV, CE experienceExperience with SAPWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and make coordinated movements of the fingers for using a keyboardAbility to lift up to 50 pounds for product testing and tradeshow purposesCombination of general office and electrical lab environmentAccommodate flexible working hours to support international collaboration efforts as neededLong-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travelGeneral office environmentNote: Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Legrand is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
