Job Description:Fairfield University is proud to offer, pending NECHE approval, a new Associates degree program. The curriculum will include core classes steeped in the humanities, as is traditional in Jesuit higher education, as well as majors in professional fields of engineering, health studies, business, and liberal arts. Students who graduate from the this program will matriculate into four-year degree programs at Fairfield or elsewhere, or enter directly into the professions.Fairfield University is also seeking approval to open a location in nearby Bridgeport, CT to feature the new two-year associates degree program and act as a community hub. The campus, to be opened in August 2023, pending NECHE approval, is named after St. Robert Bellarmine, a renowned Jesuit educator. While at Fairfield-Bellarmine, students will enjoy extensive support services, including career advising, counseling, food service, technology support, and campus ministry.Summary: This professional will oversee all instructional activities, including course scheduling, instruction, student advisement and registration, and supervision of full and part-time faculty (in coordination with the College of Arts & Sciences and Professional Schools of Fairfield University). Depending on qualifications, this individual may also be appointed as an administrator with faculty status in a concurrent non-tenure track appointment.Faculty Supervision and Leadership:Determines faculty teaching and advising assignments in coordination with the College and Schools. Oversees instruction and provide input into evaluation and promotion of faculty. Directs training and orientation of new faculty and ongoing faculty development in conjunction with the Center for Academic Excellence. Provides leadership to Bellarmine faculty through regular faculty meetings and one-on-one interaction.Academic Advising and RetentionCoordinates academic support programs and services, including tutoring and supplemental instruction Oversees monitoring and analysis of student academic performance. Directs college-wide retention and learning support initiatives.Curriculum and AssessmentCoordinates curriculum development with College and Schools in accordance with student learning outcomes Oversees development of course equivalencies and curriculum pathways with the College and Schools and Oversees curriculum articulation with other colleges and universities as needed Directs assessment of programmatic and student learning outcomes and ensures timely completion of regular assessment reportsInstructionTeaches at least one course within a discipline offered through the Bellarmine campus each academic year.General Administration:Oversees development and execution of course schedule. Oversees student advisement, registration, and other actions leading to student academic success. Represents Bellarmine on relevant University Committees and bodies, as directed by the Dean. Performs other administrative duties that might be determined by the Dean. Serves as a member of the Deans leadership team. Coordinates Commencement preparation Supervises administrative assistant Performs other duties as required.Qualifications:

  • Doctoral or Terminal Degree in appropriate field with a minimum of five years of experience in teaching and/or academic administration.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the Jesuit mission and values within higher education.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adheres to a moral or ethical code and gains the trust of others through demonstrated fair, responsible, and principled behavior.
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus resources, and student support services.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, including underserved, minority, and first generation college students.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills. Builds cooperative partnerships among peers and stakeholders. Willing to adapt to gain a better, overall result for the team.
  • Ability to encourage and empower students to make their own decisions.
